Genessee grew up in the suburbs of southern California, but was born and raised by the city of Los Angeles. She believes that fitness should be fun, challenging and accessible for everyone. As an elementary school teacher, she is used to leading large groups of students but loves teaching adults how to find their inner-child through fitness classes. When she's not teaching, you can find her at local coffee shops with her nose buried in a book or in the park people watching.

What first got you into fitness as a lifestyle and career?
I used to be intimidated by gyms and any type of fitness classes. But I am lucky to have fitness-minded friends who invited me to my first run, my first yoga class, and my first bootcamp. Because of them, I'm healthier, stronger, confident and no longer afraid of the weights at a gym.
