Where did you grow up?

South Bay area in SoCal

It is Friday night - beer, wine, cocktail, or fresh-pressed juice?

Wine

If you had one last meal, what would you eat?

Any meal that my mom cooked.

Do you have a favorite movie or actor/actress?

Yes - does Michelle Obama or Beyonce count?

You are stuck in LA traffic - what music are you playing to pass the time?

1989 Taylor Swift album from start to finish if I need my eyeballs to stay opened. Otherwise, I browse through Spotify pop remix radio stations to add to my class playlists.

What first got you into fitness?

My mom made me do all kinds of sports growing up to make me more "extroverted". In the end, I chose competitive swimming and synchronized swim (which worked for me, because I couldn't talk to people under water).

That kind of work out regimen taught me a lot about myself and I carried the discipline with me throughout life.

What is one of your favorite fitness moments so far in life?

My favorite fitness moments are from leading classes & building a community with fellow clients & colleagues. When I instruct a class, I can unapologetically be me. From being completely present in a class, I get this exhilarating rush that is hard to describe. It almost feels like I took a fresh breath of air for the first time in weeks - that I get to share this passion with everyone in class is simply incredible. There's no feeling like being part of a community that motivates others to be completely present & finish the workout.

What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?

Favorite: anything that has to do with a*s & abs.

Least favorite: chest days are my least favorite, i.e chest presses. This is partly due to my injury! It is a muscle that I have restrictions on.

What is one of your favorite inspirational quotes?

"Anything worth doing is worth overdoing" - Mick Jagger

What does the word "Sanctuary" mean to you?

For me, sanctuary means a place I can breathe. It's a place where I can be unapologetically me without all the external noise & pressure. Sometimes I lose myself in expectations and goals and forget to breathe. My sanctuary is a place I go to cut out all the noise and focus on my breath, mind, & body - to recharge, reset, and restore.
